Precious Blood Ministry Unveils Campfire for Peace Circles

Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation (PBMR), a neighborhood organization that often works with at-risk youth, unveiled a new campfire during its second annual cookout on Thursday, Oct. 10. According to Sister Donna Liette, the restorative justice practicioner of PBMR, the campfire will be instrumental during the restorative justice peace circles that are often conducted in the vicinity.

Residents and youth enjoyed sitting around the fire throughout the afternoon as they ate and mingled with one another. After the cookout, Father Dave Kelly led everyone into a prayer that blessed the new gathering place.

But the campfire is not only for the youth of PBMR. Liette says the space is open to the community and encourages neighborhood residents to frequent the space often.

PBMR is located in Back of the Yards at 5114 S. Elizabeth St.

Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation (PBMR), una organización comunitaria que con frecuencia trabaja con jóvenes en riesgo, develó una nueva fogata durante su segunda parrillada anual el jueves, 10 de octubre. Según la Hermana Donna Liette, la practicante de justicia restaurativa de PBMR, la fogata será instrumental durante los círculos de paz de justicia restaurativa que con frecuencia se conducen en los alrededores.

Los residentes y jóvenes disfrutaron sentarse alrededor de la fogata durante la tarde mientras comían y platicaban los unos con otros. Después de la parrillada, el Padre Dave Kelly dirigió a todos en una oración que bendijo el nuevo lugar de reunión.

Pero la fogata no es sólo para los jóvenes de PBMR. Liette dice que el espacio está abierto para la comunidad e insta a todos los residentes del vecindario a que frecuenten el espacio. PBMR está ubicado en Back of the yards en el 5114 S. Elizabeth St.
