Back of the Yards Quality-of-Life Plan, SSA #13 to Host Job Fair

The Back of the Yards Quality-of-Life Plan, in partnership with Special Service Area (SSA) #13, announced that over 25 employers will offer hundreds of jobs to local residents searching for employment at the 2012 Back of the Yards Job Fair. The job fair is a specific objective of the plan’s Economic Development Committee. The Back of the Yards Job Fair will be held on Thursday, August 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Chicago Indoor Sports (3900 S. Ashland Ave.).

The Back of the Yards Quality-of-Life Plan is a groundbreaking initiative that partners every major non-profit organization in the Back of the Yards community to pinpoint key neighborhood issues and address them with specific goals and objectives; the Plan is comprised of four committees: Education & Youth, Housing, Economic Development and Civic Engagement.

“The job fair is one of the most important objectives of the Quality-of-Life Plan; it will directly impact one of the most vital issues that not only affects the Back of the Yards community, but the entire nation: employment,” said Craig Chico, president & CEO of the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council.

Businesses from Special Service Area #13 (Stockyards Industrial Park), as well as numerous Fortune 500 companies, will participate in the event. Positions are being offered to job-seekers in the fields of foodservice, customer service, manufacturing, and healthcare, to name a few.

The job fair is free and open to the public. Businesses may still register for the event until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Plan de Calidad de Vida de Back of the Yards, SSA #13 organizan feria de trabajo

 El Plan de Calidad de Vida, en conjunto con el Área de Servicios Especiales (SSA) #13, anunciaron que más de 25 empleadores ofrecerán cientos de trabajos a los residentes locales en busca de empleo en la Feria de Trabajo de Back of the Yards 2012. La feria de trabajo es un objetivo específico del Comité de Desarrollo Económico del plan. La feria de trabajo de Back of the Yards se realizará el jueves 2 de agosto, de las 9:00 a.m. a la 1:00 p.m. en el Chicago Indoor Sports (3900 S Ashland Ave.)

El Plan de Calidad de Vida de Back of the Yards es una revolucionara iniciativa que asocia a cada organización no lucrativa en la comunidad de Back of the Yards para identificar las cuestiones clave del vecindario y tratarlas con específicas metas y objetivos; el plan se compone de cuatro comités: Educación y Jóvenes, Vivienda, Desarrollo Económico y Participación Cívica.

“La feria de trabajo es uno de los más importantes objetivos del Plan de Calidad de Vida; impactará directamente a uno de los problemas vitales que no sólo afecta a la comunidad de Back of the Yards, pero al país entero: el desempleo”, dijo Craig Chico, presidente y director ejecutivo del Concilio de Back of the Yards.

Los comercios del Área de Servicios Especiales #13 (Parque Industrial de las Empacadoras), además de numerosas empresas del Fortune 500, participarán en el evento. Se ofrecerán puestos a las personas que buscan trabajo en los ámbitos del servicio de alimentos, servicio al cliente, producción, y cuidados de la salud, por nombrar algunos.

La feria de trabajos es gratuita y está abierta al público. Las empresas aún pueden registrarse para el evento hasta el miércoles a las 5 p.m.
