Hunger Walk to Support Casa Catalina’s Mission of Assisting Families in Back of the Yards

The Greater Chicago Food Depository will hold its 27th annual Hunger Walk on June 23, 2012 at Soldier Field. It is the 21st year that Casa Catalina –Catholic Charities/Holy Cross/ IHM Food Pantry is participating.

In 1991 they served 50 to 70 families a week. Today, they serve 325 to 375 families each week. As the need grew, so did the generosity of volunteers and friends of the pantry who have joined the walk to help raise the funds needed to keep the account at the Greater Chicago Food Depository from going into the red.

Join the team for the 21st year walk and help them meet their goal ($30,000) and continue to help end hunger in Back of the Yards-one family at a time.

This year the bus will leave from the Holy Cross Rectory 4557 S. Wood at 7:00a.m. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and the Walk starts at 8:30 a.m.

The Walk will head south from Soldier Field to 31st where participants will turn around and head back to the home of the Bears.

Caminata contra el Hambre Apoya la Misión de Casa Catalina de Asistir a las Familias de Back of the Yards

El Greater Chicago Food Depository, realizará su Caminata Anual contra el Hambre número 27 el próximo 23 de junio del 2012 en el Soldier Field. Este es el 21er año que El Centro de Necesidades Básicas Casa Catalina – Caridades Católicas/ Iglesia de Santa Cruz/Inmaculado Corazón de María participa. El 1991, servían de 50 a 70 familias por semana.

Hoy sirven entre 325 y 375 familias semanalmente. A medida que la necesidad crecía, también la generosidad de los voluntarios y amigos del dispensario de alimentos que año con año se han unido a la caminata para ayudar a recaudar los fondos necesarios para evitar que la cuenta en el Greater Chicago Food Depository alcance cifras rojas.

Únete al equipo en su 21era caminata, ayuda a que lleguen a su meta ($30,000) y así juntos seguir combatiendo el hambre en Back of the Yards– una familia a la vez.

Este año el autobús saldrá de la rectoría de la Iglesia de Santa Cruz ubicada en el 4557 S. Wood a las 7:00 a.m. El registro comienza a las 7:00 a.m. y la caminata da inicio a las 8:30 a.m.

La caminata partirá del Soldier Field hacia el sur hasta la calle 31 donde los participantes darán la vuelta y regresaran a la casa de los Osos de Chicago.
