Latinos Progresando Celebrates Día del Niño

Families joined Latinos Progresando for a celebration of Dia del Niño on April 30.

Hundreds of children and their parents came out to celebrate Día del Niño (Day of the Child), hosted by Latinos Progresando at the Social Center at 2414 S. Albany in Little Village on April 30.

Among the guests was Silvana Tabares of Illinois’ 21st District who joined in the celebration with the children and families. Día del Niño is a Mexican national holiday celebrating children, and each spring, Latinos Progresando brings together children and families from the neighborhood to celebrate.

The celebration included raffle prizes, healthy snacks, and games, but also brought other resources to parents—schools and other service providers in the area come to talk about their services.

Cientos de niños y sus padres acudieron a celebrar el Día del Niño, organizado por Latinos Progresando en el Centro Social del 2414 S. Albany en La Villita el pasado 30 de abril.

Entre los invitados se encontraba Silvana Tabares del Distrito 21 de Illinois que se unió a la celebración con los niños y familias.

El Día del Niños es un día de celebración nacional mexicano que festeja a los niños cada primavera, Latinos progresando reúne a los niños y familias del vecindario para celebrar.

La celebración incluyó rifas y premios, bocadillos saludables y juegos, pero también trajo otros recursos para los padres—escuelas y otros proveedores de servicios en el área que fueron a hablar sobre sus servicios.
