Peace and Education Coalition Scholarship Application Information 2012

What’s available?

- Scholarships for University or College (up to $2000 each)

- Scholarships for a private High School (up to $500)

Who can apply?

Applicants who are active in volunteer service. Must demonstrate involvement during this past year (May 2011-April 2012) in the Back of the Yards (i.e. park volunteer, library aide, tutoring, teach religious education, volunteer in youth work or food pantry, neighborhood clean-up, visiting the sick, etc.).

Applicants must have been accepted to the school they wish to attend by the time the award is issued.

Students who have received scholarships in the past from the Peace and Education Coalition, or Holy Cross/IHM Parish, are eligible to reapply and will be judged on the merit of their application.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

ALL Applications DUE FRIDAY, MAY 4, 2012, 8 pm. Submit completed application pack to:

Checklist: 

Completed written application.

Copy of most recent report card. The report card copy MUST show the semester and year. If in college, you will likely not have your Spring, 2012 report card. Do not wait to receive it. Submit your most recent prior to this term.

One (1) letter of reference from your volunteer service supervisor, typed on business letterhead.

Eligible applicants will be invited for a personal interview with a panel of judges. These interviews will be scheduled the days of June 5-7.

Scholarship committee will contact applicant regarding the award.

Awarding of scholarships will take place the weekend of June 16-17.

INFORMACIÓN DE LA SOLICITUD DE LA BECA DE LA COALCIÓN DE LA PAZ Y EDUCACIÓN 2012

¿Qué está disponible?

-Becas para la Universidad o Colegio Comunitario (de hasta $2,000 cada una)

-Becas para la Secundaria privada (de hasta $500)

¿Quién puede aplicar?

Los solicitantes que sean activos en servicio voluntariado. Deben demostrar participacion durante este año pasado (mayo 2011-abril 2011) en Back of the Yards (eje. voluntarios en el parque, asistentes de biblioteca, tutoría, enseñar educación religiosa, voluntarios de trabajos con los jóvenes o en la despensa de alimentos, limpieza del vecindario, visitar a los enfermos, etc.)

Los solicitantes deben haber sido aceptados a la escuela que deseen asistir para cuando se otorguen las becas.

Los estudiantes que hayan recibido becas en el pasado de la Coalición de la Paz y Educación, o de la Parroquia Santa Cruz/ICM, son elegibles para volver a aplicar y serán juzgados según el mérito de su solicitud.

PROCESO DE SOLICITUD:

TODAS las solicitudes DEBEN ENTREGARSE PARA EL VIERNES, 4 DE MAYO, 2012 a las 8 p.m.

Solicitud completa por escrito

Copia de tu más reciente boleta de calificaciones. La boleta DEBE mostrar el semestre y año. Si estás en la universidad, es probable que no tengas tus calificaciones de primavera 2012. No esperes a recibirla. Entrega tus calificaciones más recientes antes de este término.

Una (1) carta de referencia de tu supervisor de servicio voluntario escrita a máquina con membrete oficial.

Los solicitantes elegibles serán invitados a una entrevista personal con un panel de jueces. Estas entrevistas serán programadas para los días del 5 al 7 de junio.

El comité de becas contactará al solicitante sobre el premio

La entrega de becas se realizará el fin de semana del 16-17 de junio.
