National Museum of Mexican Art Celebrates Dia Del Niño

The National Museum of Mexican Art (NMMA) will hold its 16^th Annual Chicago Día del Niño Family Festival, the largest children’s festival in the city. The 2012 Día del Niño Family Festival will be held on Saturday, April 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the UIC Pavilion, 525 S. Racine.

As in previous years, the day’s festivities will kick off with the Día del Niño Family Health Walk from the museum (1852 West 19^th Street) to the UIC Pavilion.  The 2.1 mile health walk begins at 10 a.m.—early arrival is recommended—with a special appearance by Ronald McDonald. Walkers receive a free Día del Niño T-shirt and giveaways (while supplies last). More than 10,000 attendees are anticipated.

Join the celebration along with MC and local on-air personality, David Miranda from Máxima 93.5 and 103.1 FM and reporter for El Gordo y la Flaca. Also, meet Chicago Bulls legend, Sidney Green, view a live python presented by Lincoln Park Zoo, interact with Sparky, Chicago Fire mascot, South Paw from the White Sox, and a surprise visitor from the Brookfield Zoo.

The 16^th annual Día del Niño Family Festival will also feature family friendly physical activities, nutrition activities and health screenings, dental screenings, diabetes and cholesterol screenings, immunizations (immunization records are required), breast self-examination workshops provided by ACCESS, and much more.

The NMMA will offer free shuttle service from the Museum to the UIC Pavilion throughout the day.

Museo Nacional de Arte Mexicano Celebra el Día del Niño

El Museo Nacional de Arte Mexicano (NMMA) realizará su 16º Festival Anual del Día del Niño en Chicago, el festival infantil más grande de la ciudad. El Festival Familiar del Día del Niño 2012 se llevará a cabo el sábado 14 de abril en el Pavillion de la UIC, 525 S Racine.

Como en previos años, las festividades del día arrancarán con la Caminata Familiar Saludable del Día del Niño desde el museo (1852 Oeste Calle 19) al Pavillion de la UIC. La caminata de 2.1 millas comienza a las 10 a.m.—se recomienda llegar temprano—con una aparición especial de Ronald McDonald. Los participantes recibirán una playera del Día del Niño gratis y regalos (hasta agotar existencias). Se anticipan más de 10,000 asistentes.

Únete a la celebración junto con el conductor y personalidad local del radio, David Miranda de Máxima 93.5 FM y reportero de El Gordo y la Flaca. También, conoce a la leyenda de los Chicago Bulls, Sidney Green, observa a un pitón vivo presentado por el Zoológico Lincoln Park, interactúa con Sparky, la mascota del Chicago Fire, South Paw de los White Sox y un visitante sorpresa del Zoológico Brookfield.

El 16º Festival Familiar Anual del Día del Niño también contará con actividades familiares, actividades de nutrición y exámenes de salud, exámenes dentales, de diabetes y de colesterol, vacunas (se requiere el registro), talleres de autoexamen de mama proporcionados por ACCESS, y mucho más.

El NMMA ofrecerá servicio de transporte gratuito del Museo al UIC Pavillion durante todo el día.
