Students Occupy DePaul to Protest Tuition Hikes
The evening of Friday March 2, 14 students occupied the DePaul Student Center in Lincoln Park, staying overnight in the building to protest a tuition increase at their school.
According to a press release, the DePaul administration was scheduled to meet this morning to vote on the tuition hike at the Lincoln Park campus. The meeting, however, was moved to an undisclosed location. The student government president accepted an invitation to the meeting. He was driven downtown by administrators, who made him enter through the back door of a high-rise and refuse to reveal his location to him.
Students are planning a day and evening of actions today to protest tuition hikes.
DePaul students and the Occupy movement are planning a press conference today at 12:30 p.m. outside 55 E Jackson Blvd in the Loop.
