March Madness to Bring Best Out of Kansas Player

As March Madness approaches in the upcoming weeks, it’ll be no surprise fans of the NCAA will be tuned into Saturday’s game between Duke and North Carolina. The No. 3 and No. 6 ranked teams will go head-to-head, as North Carolina will seek to win after their loss to Duke in their first meeting.
But as the battle rages between these top seeds, another, more personal battle is being fought by a young junior in Kansas. Thomas Robinson, a forward for the Kansas Jayhawks, lost his mother and his two maternal grandparents in the span of 29 days last year. The loss would have knocked anyone off their feet, yet Robinson only plays better by the day.
The 6’10”, 237-pound player never stopped playing after the loss of his family, rather he kicked it into high gear, promising to make it to the NBA to help the only family he has left—his little sister Jayla. With that motivation, Robinson has been among the best players in the NCAA, consistent in his low-post scoring and rebounding.
Multiple sources have been predicting that Robinson will be following Jimmer Freddete’s footsteps as college basketball’s player of the year. The reason? Robinson has pushed the Jayhawks into national title contention and has averaged a double-double this season with about 18 points and 12 rebounds per game.
Watching Robinson possibly go head-to-head with teams like Duke and North Carolina during the NCAA tournament will make for an interesting matchup and will no doubt bring forth more of Robinson’s passion and motivation for the game.
